Still I am shocked. I hope the government reconcider its new role for refugee, otherwise there will be protests on the street.

It's shameful change. I've been in the UK for 18 years as a Stateless person and finally got leave to remain. So the new changes mean I'll stay without any nationality forever..it's disgusting

Thank you for your insightful analysis and clear explanation of potential breaches of the Refugee Convention.

Furthermore, from what I’ve been learning, 𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 [emphasis added] even if that Convention were incorporated into UK law, as the ECHR is through the HRA 1998, and/or even if an international court existed to rule on the that, parliamentary sovereignty would still present significant challenges.

As discussed in the article below on Sir Brian Leveson's views regarding the ECHR, UK judges must consider rulings from Strasbourg but are not automatically bound by them.

In cases of conflict between UK statutes and international obligations, judges would interpret the law based on Parliament’s intent.

I’ve added the link to an article discussing Sir Brian Leveson’s views on how the ECHR is applied in UK courts, which is relevant to understanding the potential challenges refugees would face even if the Refugee Convention were incorporated into domestic law and there was an international court to rule on the matter.

I cannot overstate how disgusted I am by this proposal. In the longer term, when the sea level rises and this country's coastline is over-run by sea water, and the water continues to rise and rise...... then the UK's population will become refugees, needing somewhere else to live, and then, then, being pushed back, refused, treated with malevolence won't seem so unexpected.
